What You'll Need
- Your JBL Charge 5 Speaker
- A Bluetooth-enabled device (Phone, Tablet, Computer)
Troubleshooting Steps
- Enter Pairing Mode: Turn on your JBL Charge 5. Press the Bluetooth button. The speaker should make a pairing sound, and the power button light should start blinking blue to indicate it's discoverable.
- Check Your Source Device: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone, tablet, or computer. Go to the Bluetooth settings menu.
- 'Forget' the Speaker: If you've connected to the speaker before, find 'JBL Charge 5' in your list of paired devices and select 'Forget' or 'Unpair'. This clears any old connection data.
- Scan and Reconnect: Turn your device's Bluetooth off and then on again. Scan for new devices. 'JBL Charge 5' should appear. Tap on it to connect.
- Reduce Distance & Interference: Move your source device closer to the speaker. Ensure there are no other electronic devices (like Wi-Fi routers, microwaves, or other Bluetooth speakers) right next to them, as this can cause interference.
- Restart Both Devices: Turn off your JBL Charge 5 completely. Also, restart your phone or computer. This simple step can resolve many temporary glitches.
- Hard Reset the Speaker: If pairing still fails, reset the speaker. With the speaker on, press and hold the Volume Up (+) and Play buttons together for about 15-20 seconds until the speaker turns off. This will restore it to factory settings. You will need to pair it again as a new device.
- Test with Another Device: Try pairing the Charge 5 with a different phone or tablet. If it connects to the new device, the issue is likely with your original source device's settings.
