What You'll Need
- Your JBL PartyBox 310
- A smartphone with the JBL PartyBox app installed
Troubleshooting Steps
- Ensure Basic Bluetooth Connection: Before opening the app, go to your phone's Bluetooth settings and make sure it is successfully connected to the 'JBL PartyBox 310'. The app cannot connect if the underlying Bluetooth connection isn't active.
- Check App Permissions: Go to your phone's settings, find the JBL PartyBox app, and check its permissions. Ensure it has access to 'Bluetooth'. For many phones, it also requires 'Location' permission to scan for nearby Bluetooth Low Energy devices.
- Restart the App and Speaker: Force close the JBL PartyBox app on your phone. Turn off your PartyBox 310, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on. Once the speaker has rebooted, open the app again.
- Update the App: Go to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and check if there is an update available for the JBL PartyBox app. Developers frequently release updates to fix connectivity bugs.
- Re-pair the Bluetooth Connection: Go to your phone's Bluetooth settings, find 'JBL PartyBox 310' in your list of paired devices, and tap 'Forget' or 'Unpair'. Then, put the speaker in pairing mode and connect it to your phone again as a new device.
- Clear App Cache (Android Only): If you are on an Android device, go to Settings > Apps > JBL PartyBox > Storage, and tap 'Clear Cache'. This can resolve issues caused by temporary data corruption.
- Reinstall the App: If clearing the cache doesn't work, try uninstalling the app completely from your phone and then reinstalling it from the app store. This ensures you have a fresh installation.
- Test with Another Device: If possible, try installing the app on a different smartphone or tablet. If it connects successfully with the new device, the issue is likely with your original phone's settings or software. If it also fails to connect, the problem may be with the speaker.
- Factory Reset the Speaker: This is a final step to rule out a software glitch on the speaker itself. With the speaker on, press and hold the Volume Up (+) and Play buttons for about 10 seconds until it powers off and reboots. You will need to re-pair it with your phone afterward.
