Step-by-Step Instructions
- Power Off and Unplug: Ensure the speaker is completely turned off and disconnected from any power source.
- Position the Speaker: Carefully lay the speaker on its front grille on a soft, non-scratching surface. This will give you clear access to the wheel assemblies at the bottom.
- Remove Mounting Screws: Locate the screws securing the damaged wheel's housing to the main body of the speaker. Use a Phillips #2 screwdriver to remove all of them. Keep the screws in a safe place.
- Pry the Wheel Housing: The wheel assembly is often held in place by clips in addition to the screws. Gently insert a flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry tool into the seam between the housing and the speaker body, and carefully pry it loose.
- Remove the Retaining Clip: Once the housing is detached, look at the metal axle the wheel spins on. There will be a small C-clip or retaining ring holding the wheel in place. Use needle-nose pliers to carefully grip and pull this clip off the axle. Be careful not to lose it.
- Replace the Wheel: Slide the old, broken wheel off the axle. Slide the new wheel on, making sure it is oriented correctly.
- Re-secure the Wheel: Use the needle-nose pliers to firmly press the C-clip back into the groove on the axle. Ensure it is seated securely so the wheel cannot slide off.
- Reassemble and Test: Snap the wheel housing back into place on the speaker body, aligning it with the screw holes. Re-insert and tighten all the screws. Stand the speaker upright and test the new wheel to ensure it rolls smoothly and quietly.
