- Plastic Pry Tool or Spudger
- A soft cloth or mat (to protect the speaker)
- Safety Glasses (Highly Recommended)
- Small container to hold screws
Replacement Steps
- Safety First - Power Down: Disconnect the PartyBox 310 from the AC power outlet and ensure the speaker is completely turned off. Lay the speaker on its back on a soft cloth or mat to protect the casing from scratches.
- Remove the Front Grille: The metal grille is held in place by strong clips. Start at a top corner and carefully insert a plastic pry tool between the grille and the speaker's body. Gently work your way around, prying it up slowly until the grille pops off. Be patient to avoid bending the grille.
- Identify the Speaker to Replace: You will now see the two large woofers and two smaller tweeters. Identify which driver is faulty and needs to be replaced.
- Unscrew the Driver: Using a Torx T15 screwdriver, carefully remove all the screws securing the driver's frame to the speaker enclosure. Place the screws in a small container so you don't lose them.
- Gently Lift and Disconnect: The driver may be lightly sealed to the enclosure. Use your pry tool to gently lift it out. Be careful not to damage the housing. The driver is connected by two wires. Take a photo to remember which wire connects to which terminal (polarity is important!). The connectors usually have a small locking tab you need to press to release them. Disconnect the wires.
- Connect the New Driver: Take your new replacement driver. Reconnect the two wires, ensuring they are connected to the correct positive (+) and negative (-) terminals, just as they were on the old driver. The connections should click securely into place.
- Install the New Driver: Carefully place the new driver into the enclosure, aligning the screw holes. It should sit flush with the surface.
- Secure the New Driver: Re-insert the Torx T15 screws. Tighten them in a star pattern (like changing a car tire) to ensure even pressure and a good seal. Do not overtighten, as this can crack the driver's frame.
- Test Before Closing: Before putting the grille back on, power on the speaker and play some audio at a low volume. Confirm that the new driver is working correctly and sounds clear.
- Re-attach the Front Grille: Align the grille with the clips on the speaker body and press down firmly around the edges until it snaps securely back into place.
