How to Fix JBL PartyBox 310 TWS Pairing Problems

What You'll Need

  • Two JBL PartyBox 310 speakers
  • A Bluetooth-enabled audio source (phone, tablet, etc.)

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Bring Speakers Closer: For the initial pairing, ensure both PartyBox 310 speakers are next to each other, ideally within 3 feet (1 meter). Distance and obstacles can interfere with the TWS setup process.
  2. Connect One Speaker First: Power on both speakers. On your phone or Bluetooth device, connect to only ONE of the speakers. This will become the primary (Left channel) speaker.
  3. Enter TWS Pairing Mode: Press the TWS button on the back of the primary speaker (the one connected to your phone). Then, immediately press the TWS button on the second speaker.
  4. Wait for the Confirmation Sound: The speakers will blink while searching for each other. Be patient. It can take up to 30 seconds. You will hear a confirmation sound (like a sonar ping) when they have successfully linked in TWS mode. The second speaker will now mirror the music from the primary one.
  5. Check L/R Channels: By default, the first speaker is the Left channel and the second is the Right. You can press the L/R channel button on the back of either speaker to swap them if needed.
  6. Clear Previous Connections: If they fail to connect, turn off both speakers. On your phone's Bluetooth menu, find the PartyBox 310 and select 'Forget Device' or 'Unpair'. This clears any old data that might be causing a conflict.
  7. Restart Everything: After forgetting the device, turn off your phone's Bluetooth. Power off both speakers. Then, power everything back on and start the process again from Step 2.
  8. Factory Reset Both Speakers: As a last resort, a reset can clear deep software glitches. With a speaker on, press and hold the Volume Up (+) and Play buttons for 10 seconds until it reboots. You must do this for BOTH speakers to ensure they are in a clean state before attempting to pair again.

TWS Pairing FAQs

What is TWS mode on the PartyBox 310?

TWS stands for True Wireless Stereo. It allows you to wirelessly link two identical PartyBox 310 speakers together. One speaker plays the left audio channel, and the other plays the right, creating a wide and immersive stereo sound stage.

Can I connect a PartyBox 310 to a PartyBox 110 in TWS mode?

No. TWS mode only works between two identical speaker models. You can only connect a PartyBox 310 with another PartyBox 310. You cannot mix and match different models for TWS stereo pairing.

How far apart can the speakers be once they are connected in TWS?

Once successfully paired, they should maintain a stable connection up to about 30 feet (10 meters) apart, similar to a standard Bluetooth range. However, this can be reduced by walls or other wireless interference.

The sound is cutting out on the second speaker. How do I fix it?

This is usually caused by distance or interference. Move the speakers closer together. Also, ensure there are no other devices like Wi-Fi routers, microwaves, or other Bluetooth devices between the two speakers.

I've tried everything and TWS still won't link. What's next?

If a factory reset on both speakers doesn't solve the issue, check for a firmware update using the JBL PartyBox app. An update can fix bugs related to TWS. If the issue persists, it could indicate a rare hardware fault with the Bluetooth module in one of the speakers, which would require professional service.
