- Perform a Hard Reset: This is the most crucial first step. A reset can clear software conflicts caused by the update. Press and hold the 'Play' and 'Volume +' buttons together for 10-15 seconds until the speaker restarts.
- Reconnect to the App: After the reset, 'Forget' the speaker from your phone's Bluetooth settings. Re-pair the speaker to your phone, then open the JBL PartyBox app and reconnect to the speaker within the app.
- Check for a Follow-Up Update: Open the JBL PartyBox app and navigate to the settings menu. Sometimes, JBL releases a quick patch to fix bugs from a previous update. Check if another firmware update is available and install it.
- Adjust the Equalizer (EQ): It's possible the update reset your EQ settings. In the JBL app, go to the audio settings and adjust the Bass, Mid, and Treble sliders. Try boosting the bass to see if it restores the sound to your liking.
- Disable and Re-enable Bass Boost: Press the 'Bass Boost' button on the top of the speaker several times. Cycle through Level 1, Level 2, and Off to ensure the feature is not stuck in a glitched state.
- Contact JBL Support (Last Resort): If none of the above steps work, the firmware update may have a serious bug. The best course of action is to contact official JBL support through their website with your speaker's serial number and a description of the problem.
